Idle Brick Breaker

Greetings mechanics and tinkerers!

Today, the mechanical spiders of the web bring you: Idle Brick Breaker
Today's game is another one filled with neon art. A simple game that you watch more than play.

The game has two currencies. Dollars and gems. Gems are premium currency used to buy upgrades. You get level after level of random block shapes with increasing hp. You can gain diamonds from tasks or every so often challenges show up. Very rarely, bricks can have a single gem.

Balls, at least 12 different kinds. The first button with the purple ball brings to the ball menu. You get a random 3 to choose from. Each one does different things. Poison balls make bricks take more damage from other balls. The prices to upgrade these become silly, fast.

The bulk of your powerups come from these cards from the second button with the magenta square. These upgrades take a lot of premium currency.

The yellow bolt is a menu that holds temporary upgrades or tasks to earn premium currency. Very time consuming for very little offered.

Prestige is the way you reset. You gain massive bonuses that help you progress along with the infinite resets.

Perks show up under levels. These last for one prestige. When you hit certain levels, you get a perk. They give you boosts until you decide to restart from level 1 again.

Overall :

 4 of 5 cogs.

The game is simple, but you spend more time watching. You can click on a block to do 1 point of damage. There is no upgrade I found to increase that damage.

Just an idle game with limited interactivity. You spend time just staring at the screen or letting it idle offline.

Cat Heroes: Merge

Want to be updated when the next blog goes live? Join my newsletter at: https://tinyletter.com/Hakuzo

Greetings mechanics and tinkerers!

Cat Heroes is a space-age trip from the 80s. The neon style gives this game a retro feel.

The color of the cat affects what elemental type of damage it does to the invading balls? You can also unlock stronger versions of the same cat, which also changes how it looks.

There are several powerups that you can watch videos for. The first one here is energy. This is used to summon cats into a holding bay. (I lost the screenshot of this.)

In this bay, you can combine cats with the same number and color to make them stronger, then fuse them in the main field.

The second powerup you can gain by watching videos is a speed boost. This powerup increases the attack speed of the cats.

The third powerup is simple. It auto merges all cats in the waiting bay.

You can click on the treasure box to bring up the cat upgrade menu. The first 4 slots upgrade the merging bay.

This last screenshot is just the stats of one of the cats you get. You use the star currency to upgrade your cats.

Overall:

 4 of 5 cogs.

The game is a nice time killer. You can pick up and play anytime. You can't progress until you beat a full wave. Bosses show up every five levels.

Story:

0 of 5 cogs.

No story to speak of in this game.

Amount of ads:

No ads beyond optional ones for rewards.

Accurate Advertising?:
💯%

Graphics:

 3 of 5 cogs.

Simple neon 80s style. No detail beyond that of a Lite-brite.

Gameplay:
 4 of 5 cogs.

Basic tower defense gameplay. It gets difficult to progress without beating levels. Sometimes the free chest will give you things to progress.

Free play:
90%

You can generally play for free but the difficulty forces you to try paying to advance.

Fun factor:
😎 fun for a time.

Updates coming

Disreguarding last post, the blog will resume once I find a work around for uploading screen shots. New artwork is on the way as well.

I have updated all the star images with a new gear animation. Art is provided by E-122-psi: https://www.deviantart.com/e-122-psi

I have plans to make a new background that's more fitting to a steampunk theme and new tip-jar art. Maybe a few new theme objects once i figure out what it takes.

Masketeer: Idle has fallen

Today's game: Masketeer, Idle has fallen.

Note: this game is in early access so I can't link from the play store.

Here is what this game looks kike in the play store. Since it is in early access, I can not post a link to this page.

This game is heavily steeped in Japanese lore. You have characters that wear Noh inspired masks and must defeat shadowy creatures. This game is still under development so many things could change at any tine.

This is an idle game with a very unique match 3 style element. You collect Sparks that allow you to upgrade each Masketeer.

Each Masketeer requires a lot of sparks to level. As they do so they gain better stats and improvement points to level their skills. These levels reset every transcendance.

As this screen shows here, each Masketeer has several passive skills that rank up with improvement points. Each can also be equipped with runes, the gems to the side. These runes can be fused to become stronger.

Charms are special unlocks that can boost stats for a temporary time. These require premium gems to purchase.

You collect many masks. You can break down older masks for essence to upgrade other masks you have.

Guardians can be bought and upgraded with sparks. These reset every transcendance.

Every few hours you can hatch pets. These guys can level up as you collect more and spawn special orbs that give temporary boosts.

When you transcend you gain arcana. This us used to buy relics and upgrade them permanently.

You can gain a free chest each day that gives you masks and runes. You can also purchase them with premium currency. There us also a special charm here you can only get during early access.

Lastly, quests are how you gain more premium currency each day. Along with reaching milestone levels.

Overall :

 5 of 5 cogs.

This us a beautiful game that is deeply influenced with Japanese lore. It is not apparent but a lot of small influences are in every mask. This is very simple and unique idke game.

Story:

 3 of 5 cogs.

There isn't a big overarching story but a lot of small snippets hidden along the way. The Japanese lore is there if you have studied anything from Japan.

Amount of ads:

None, but there are many optional ads for temporary boosts.

Accurate Advertising?:
💯% The images on google play match the in-game art. I do not recall any video ads for this game.

Graphics:

 5 of 5 cogs.

The graphics are great and reminds me a bit of Kingdom Heats. The images are bright and colorful and very detailed to form a visually appealing game.

Audio:

 4 of 5 cogs.

Subtle and simple music. Not much I can really say beyond that.

Gameplay:

 5 of 5 cogs.

Very unique gameplay from an idle game. You tap orbs to power up attacks. The game is easy to pick up and play in any length of time.

Free play:
💯%

It is possible to do everything without paying any money into this game.

Fun factor:
⛩ Torii gate approved.
This game makes you feel like you're in a Japanese story.

Idle Mythos A.K.A Genesis of Gods

Want to be updated when the next blog goes live? Join my newsletter at: https://tinyletter.com/Hakuzo

Today's game is: Idle Mythos

Idle Mythos is an AFK idle game. You get 12 hours of idle time which means you have to check-in at least twice a day to collect rewards and experience. You have to manually level up your heroes and manually challenge new levels to get stronger.

One possible hero here is Daji. She is a Chinese Kitsune that has a lot of lore behind her. This game appears to have many different people from all corners of mythology, each working to some goal.

This is the basic idle screen. It loops endlessly unless you click on next stage and go into the actual battle. There's a lot in this game and the tutorial does a fairly good job explaining what to do. There ware two main currencies. The first is a purple diamond that is the premium currency. You obtain a large number of these as you play through. They allow you to summon new heroes among other things. The second is gold and it is used to upgrade hero levels and merging equipment.

Here is a quick view of some of the heroes you may encounter starting out.

This is the basic map screen. You will unlock more places as you level up and you can do more types of quests or events to further power up your heroes. There is a PVP arena along with several other game modes that will take around an hour to complete each day.

The last screen here is an example of the equipment you can find in the game. The red equipment is the strongest in the game and requires you to merge 3 of the previous item together. Each item ads a large portion of power to each hero.

Overall:

 4 of 5 cogs.

There's a lot to this game and far too much to cover in this blog. The game makes you feel like you gain power quickly. I play AFK arena and so far this game feels fairer than the aforementioned game. You can do every daily events within an hour of play.

Story:

 0 of 5 cogs.

There is no story at all in this game except small snipits about each charachter.

Amount of ads:

None.

Accurate Advertising?:
💯%

As far I can tell from the few advertisements every component shown matches. Except, the part claiming the first top up was only 1 penny. That was no where to be found and I wonder if it was a limited time offer.

Graphics:

5 of 5 cogs.

The graphics are very highly detailed. Each asset is very defined and clear to make out on the phone screen.

Audio:

 3 of 5 cogs.

The audio files sound very familiar. I feel they are possibly open-source sounds found elsewhere.

Gameplay:

 4 of 5 cogs.

There is a lot of different things to keep you playing every 12 hours. Progression feels fast so far but I have not reached a point of any difficulty walls.

Free play:
💯%

This gave is very generous with giving you premium currency to buy more heroes with. You can progress well without paying anything.

Fun factor:
😏 better than expected.
